Well considering it’s looking to be yet another wet weekend here in Gunnedah we have had an excellent start.

Our trip started with our usual vet customers in Denman, Muswellbrook & Scone with a few added extra’s in between before heading to our motel in Gunnedah. As per usual Allan & I stopped at the local supermarket to pick up a few essentials such as milk & bread. While we were shopping we received a call from one of the teachers from St Mary’s College asking if we sharpened knives & scissors for schools. So 9.30 this morning we rock up to this lovely looking school to do some work. We were given 31 mixed knives & 12 pairs of scissors and were asked to set up in a quad under cover but not quite out of the way nor out of sight. The gardener heard us working and also brought several tools to be sharpened.

I must admit the best part of working at the school was the interest shown by the children. One of the teachers, Mrs Kesby, who teaches the year 12 Primary Industries class asked if her students could come and watch what we do as it would be of great interest to them. Seven children wandered over and started asking questions. There were four boys, Adam, Luke, Ben and Luke and three girls Ruby, Madi and Alicia. The girls showed interest but soon became a little bored. The boys were very keen to see how things worked and were done. One of the young men in particular was very interested and asked many questions. All the boys were interested to feel the difference with a scissors sharpened one blade on the stone and the other blade on the diamond plate. The children all have farming backgrounds so this sharpening was of great interest to them. I invited them to come out and say hi at the dog show that we are working at and I’m pretty sure that a least one young man will try to turn up.

I hope the weather clears so that this weekend can go ahead without too much fuss and bother.

Enjoy your weekend Rhian & Allan

HI
Today while I am off work with this insane rain!
Ann & I decided to run the new toys we purchase through the year and store away, up to the Parramatta Salvation Army office to hand over around 20 toys approximate value off $600 so they can hand them out to some very needy kids at a time when they will need some cheering up the most and to easy the pressure on families that find themselves in a tight situation.
I know how this feels as some 20 years ago we found ourselves needing the Salvos help and now this is why every year we do this starting in Januaray for next xmas.
If you can please help a charity in some form.
Terry

HI

Apart from my Can Am Spyder being for work it is also one of my hobbies going away on rides and for this I would like to share with you some pictures.

Well last weekend from Friday 12th,13th, 14th, Ann and I were in Bowral for the BRP Spyder Royale Homecoming this is a get together of Spyder owners from around Australia what a great weekend we had and some really spectacular roads and scenery around this part of NSW.

The event HQ was the Gibraltar club and Ann and I and many others agreed the meals that were set down for us were very good from the smorgas board lunches to the formal event dinner I must congratulate the kitchen staff for this and to BRP staff for organizing this great event .

HI All

I arrived home last night finding a full mail box with a number of jobs waiting for me, I appreciate customers doing this as I am aware that while they are either in transit or in my hands you are without your favourite kitchen utensils and I work hard to do them asap and within the limited time that is available to me with a full daily roster, it does allow one to work from home sometimes without the pressure of being out in all that traffic.

Looking forward to more leading into this festive season.

This week Rhian and are at Young for the Young and districts all breed dog show.

We arrived here on Tuesday and have had positive responses from Young residents immediately. Just by driving down the street looking for our accommodation we received a phone call to do some work. Just a few household knives but it was a start. Since then we have had quite a few household enquiries and have a knife job on in an hour.

To Rhian’s delight there is also a miniature pony show being held at the same showground as the dog show. We have just returned from sharpening three sets horse clippers for Mr & Mrs Cognal, who are some of the show’s organizers. They will let the other show people know of our presence so hopefully we will get some horse grooming works as well. I’m sure Rhian will have no trouble taking the clippers and scissors back to their owners and will take a few moments to pat the horses. (Unless of course her favorite Golden Retrievers are present then she will be in trouble)
